William L. “Bill” Arnold, age 82 of Massillon, died Sunday, June 3, 2007 at the Cleveland Clinic. Born in Akron, Ohio, on December 9, 1924, he was the son of the late John V. and Pearl M. (Gwinn) Arnold. He was a Massillon resident since 1955. Upon graduation from Springfield High School, Bill served in the U.S. Army at Fort Leonard wood in Missouri during World War II. He retired from the Massillon City Schools. Bill was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast. After retirement, he worked as a starter at Maplecrest Golf Club. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers John and Robert Arnold. Bill is survived by his wife of 53 years, Anne M. Arnold, his daughters, Susanne Clapper of Massillon and Shelley Bammerlin and her husband Bill of Massillon, his twin sons, William Arnold II of Massillon and John V. Arnold of Royal Oak, MI, his beloved granddaughters, Erica and Ashley Bammerlin, cherished nieces and nephews and many friends. He will be greatly missed by all. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at the Paquelet Funeral Home with Rev. Leslie Peine and Dr. William R. Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park in Akron. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 5-8 P.M. and on Saturday one hour before the service.
