Robert “Bob” Hoover Hockenberry, age 92 passed away on October 30, 2021. He was born on November 06, 1928 (the day President Hoover was elected) to the late Charles O. and Viola (Crider) Hockenberry. He was a 1947 graduate of Jackson High School, as an accomplished trumpet player and chorus member. He loved music! He married the love of his life Helen Geis in 1951 and they shared almost 70 years together. Bob and Helen built their first home in Massillon. The enjoyed playing Euchre, dancing and traveling in their RV. Bob retired after 30 years of service as a mason/bricklayer with The Timken Company. He enjoyed his yard, growing his garden, where he and Helen had many a bountiful harvest. Bob usually traveled by Indian or Goldwing until he upgraded to a motor home. He traveled from Mexico to Alaska, Montana to Florida, fishing and golfing along the way. He was a longtime member of St. John United Church of Christ, as well as a member of Clinton #47 Masonic Lodge in Massillon. Bob leaves to cherish his memory his nieces Cynthia (Stan) Kuran, Susan (Richard) Kirkhart and Linda (Jack) Crawford as well as a host of grand nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Bob was preceded in death by his brother Charles Hockenberry and his faithful canine companions Chipper, Mitzi and Marci. In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place and a private service will be held at a later date. Donations in Bob’s memory made to the Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
