Irene Agnes

Irene Agnes, age 87 of Massillon, passed away Thursday morning at Aultman Hospital following a long illness. Irene was born in Massillon on November 11, 1920 to the late Charles & Rosa (Wantz) Slinger. She graduated from Washington High School in 1938. She was very active at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Christians Mothers/Altar Rosary Society, the Soup Kitchen and a member of the Quilters. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Warren Agnes (2001), a brother Roy Slinger and a sister Catherine Shriver. She is survived by three children, David (Jean) Agnes of Canton, Mary Ann Klein of Massillon, Thomas (Jane) Agnes of Williston, ND; 11 grandchildren; Michelle Thomas, Renee Randazzo, Chris Klein, Craig Klein, Corey Klein, Shawn Klein, Kyle Klein, Joseph Agnes, Gabrielle Munoz, Ryan Agnes, and Macy Agnes and 7 great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with her pastor, Fr. Raymond Paul, officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
