Glinda Lee Berecek

January 24, 1952 — September 24, 2022

After battling many health issues, Glinda Lee Berecek, age 70, was called to her home in heaven on September 24, 2022. She was born on January 24, 1952 to the late Regina M. (Freshour) Brown and John F. Brown in Massillon, Ohio. She was a loving and caring soul who was devoted to God and family. She dearly loved her children Jennifer Selinsky (Jarod); Christopher Berecek; John Franke; and Grandson; Auden Selinsky, other family members, and faithful chiweenie, Peanut.

She was a proud 1971 Massillon graduate of Washington High School. From a cheerleader in junior high school through her adult life, she supported the sport she loved, “football.” She was a life-long Massillon Tiger and Buckeye fan. While living in the Tuslaw School District, she helped to expand the Tuslaw Youth Football Program. She was so proud of her children and the happiest sitting on the bleachers, watching Christopher playing football and Jennifer cheering!

She had many hobbies. She enjoyed collecting angels, shopping crafting, gardening, sewing, reading, dining out with friends, and hosting holiday celebrations. During her life she had many jobs in production, sales, and management. She enjoyed working with the public. She was an interior designer for Finefrock Furniture Company in Massillon, product purchaser and sales representative for the Flower Factory in North Canton. She loved traveling to Las Vegas to trade shows as a buyer. The jobs she loved the most was working with children in the Massillon City School District. She was a bus driver’s assistant, cafeteria and playground monitor, and classroom aide. Due to her health concerns, she had to resign before she could retire.

Her Catholic faith and love of God were most important to her. As an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Massillon, she was involved in, and headed, many church activities. She sang in the choir, played the hand bells, served at the soup kitchen, and organized Christian Women’s League of Churches’ luncheons, ran Christmas toy drives and many other holiday activities for children She always donated her time and services wherever they were needed.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, John F. Brown Jr. She is survived by her children and grandson, her siblings; Barbara Joseph, Debbie Lab (Jeff), Richard Brown (Nelley) of Massillon, and Gary Brown (Pam) of Ft. Myers, Florida; many cousins, nieces and nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews.
