Edna Marlene Slater, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 surrounded by three generations of family at the Hospitality House in Massillon, Ohio. She was born on May 5, 1933 to the late Fred & Madge (Haught) Little, she was one of eight children. She married Fredrick E. Slater on December 28, 1952. He passed away on January 8, 1992. Survivors include her children, Patricia D. Beadle (John), Fredrick E. Slater, Carol L. Reynolds (Rich), Vincent A. Slater (JoAnne), Robert E. Slater and Michael W. Slater (Candy), 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and one great great grandson, sisters, Virginia Harper (Billy), Janet Ackerman (Tom) and Belvie Schrock (Richard), one brother Martin Warren Little (Sharon), one brother-in-law Myron Slater and many nieces and nephews who loved their Aunt Marlene. Awaiting her at heaven's gate, at Jesus side were many loved ones that she had been missing greatly. She was well known for her quick humor, her desire to cook and feed anyone who showed up at her home. Her grandchildren, especially recall her fresh baked homemade bread. Others recall the hot sausage, sauerkraut dish or yummy stuffed peppers. If you liked liver and onions, she was your friend. She also enjoyed board games, such as "Sorry" and "Trouble", but the number 1 game was "Aggravation", a marble game enjoyed by all who knew her. She attended Harmon Church of God, but enjoyed worshipping at many places, especially for the music concerts. Special thanks to family and friends support through the fun, but sometimes difficult times in the past two years. To the Hospitality House staff, especially the angelic residents who frequented mother's room with greetings and visits, expressing their love and concern. To the Harbor Lights Hospice Care, you were all compassionately professional. We thank all, for loving our mother in the season of life that you found her. Lymphoma cancer was the diagnosis, but she strived to keep a positive outlook through it all. Which in turn ministered to all of us greatly. A memorial celebration of her life will take place at NOON on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at the First Assembly of God, Lake Avenue NE, Massillon, Ohio. Officiating will be Pastor Jeff Karnes and Pastor John Dunn.
